Working Gundog Training – Spring/Summer 2008

Training classes are open to all members with a desire to work their Labrador be that out shooting, in competition or for fun. However, before attending training classes, please ensure that your dog, whatever age, has basic manners ensuring he or she will, walk quietly on the lead, sit, stay, come when called and is well socialised with other dogs. At each session we will offer Beginner/Puppy, Novice and Open level training. Helpers welcome please!

- Classes will be £4.00 each

- Only one dog per handler in all training classes

- Meet at 2.00pm for 2.30pm start prompt at all venues – direction signs will be out from 1.45pm onwards – Please do not enter the ground until the signs are out.

- No harsh handling whatsoever will be tolerated at our training classes.

- No bitches in season are to be brought onto the training ground.

- Please ensure that all dogs left in cars are both well ventilated and do not create a noise nuisance.

- Please bring a canvas training dummy and a gundog whistle if you have them and it would be preferred that all dogs attending wear a slip type gundog lead rather than a collar and clip on lead. These gundog items can be purchased on the day.

Sat 21st June     -     500 Acre Wood, Friar’s Gate, Nr Crowborough, East Sussex

Sat 26th July      -     Popes Oak Farm, West Grinstead, West Sussex

Thurs 7th Aug     -     Beginner Gundog/Show Gundog Working Certificate Training Day – Popes Oak Farm, West Grinstead, West Sussex – 10.00am start – All day session

Sat 27th Sept    -     Benedict Farm Boarding Kennels, Northiam, Nr Rye, East Sussex

 

Directions:

Popes Oak Farm  - Postcode: RH13 8LU. From the A24, turn East along the A272 from the Buckbarn Crossroads. After around a mile you will see the entrance for Popes Oak Farm on your right. Continue along until the next proper right hand turning called ‘Park Lane’. Take this lane and turn into the training ground about ½ mile down this lane. KSS Signs will be out to guide you in.

500 Acre Wood, Friar’s Gate, Near Crowborough, East Sussex

Take the B2026 from Maresfield, North. Go through Duddleswell and shortly after take a right fork onto the B2188 towards Groombridge. 500 Acre wood is on the left hand side, if going north, around Friars Gate. The entrance will be signed but is marked by two large brick pillars. If coming from the north, come through Lye Green and the ground is on the right hand side shortly afterwards.

Benedict Farm Boarding Kennels, Staplecross Road, Northiam, Rye, East Sussex, TN31 6JJ.

On the B2165 between Staplecross and Horns Cross on the left if going East. If going North on the A28 to Northiam, turn left onto the B2165 at Horns Cross towards Staplecross before you reach Northiam,  and the farm will then be on the right. Signs will be out.

Willow Farm, Sundridge, Kent – Sundridge is a village located on the A25 between Sevenoaks and Westerham.  From Junction 5 on the M25 take the A25 West towards Westerham and Oxted. On the A25 there is a set of traffic lights in Sundridge. Turn right (there will be signs out) onto the B221. the farm is down this road on the right. Again, signs will be out.
